A CLEAR START FOR LEARNERS AND ADULTS
Make yourself at home
Start free. Choose a grade. Learn at your own pace.
The Grades 1–12 skills library opens without an account. Each grade has six original experiences across digital confidence, communication, data, coding, responsible technology and design.
Choose your grade →Your first learning session
- Choose a grade and open Experience 1, or choose a specific skill you want to practise.
- Read the goal and worked example. An adult can read aloud or record an oral response.
- Use Next and Previous to inspect the four explained steps. Play is optional; Motion off keeps you in control.
- Answer three exercise questions and select Check my answers. Read the reasons, make corrections and try again.
- Make the practical project, explain what you did and review the evidence criteria with a partner or adult.
- Download your notes before moving to another device. For paper practice, open the grade’s A4 learner guide.
Suggested pace: one experience per week for six weeks. Split a session, add breaks or revisit an earlier grade as needed. Grade labels are starting points, not judgements of ability.
Where does my work go?
The new skills library saves exercise answers, passed practice checks, project notes, reflection text and review ticks in this browser’s local storage. Three practice spaces help keep learners’ work separate, and every grade has its own records.
These records do not sync to another device or to the existing school accounts. Private browsing, clearing site data or browser storage limits can remove or prevent saving. Watch the saving message and download a text copy of your notes.
If saving is unavailable, keep the current page open and download your notes before leaving. Switching practice spaces on that page retains temporary work, but reloading or navigating away can lose it.
A passed practice check keeps your earlier success when you retry. Editing a project makes its self-review pending again, so review the criteria and record the updated reflection.
Privacy in skills practice
Use fictional examples and a classroom nickname on printed work. The browser practice spaces do not ask for a name, email, password, photograph or school identifier.
Your practice answers and notes in this library are kept locally; this feature does not send them to HelioLearn’s learning APIs. Normal page requests still reach the web server and may appear in access logs. The separate Grade 3 and Grade 4 school-learning areas use their own sign-in and saved-progress systems.
Practice spaces are organisational labels, not password-protected accounts. Anyone using the same browser profile may open them. Use separate browser profiles on a shared device when privacy matters.
To remove a practice record, choose its grade and practice space, select Clear this practice space and review the confirmation. Only that grade in that space is cleared. Download your notes first if you need a copy.
Print or work without JavaScript
Every grade has two direct PDF downloads: a learner workbook and a separate teacher and answer guide. Open the A4 guide from the grade page, then choose Download A4 PDF. Print A4 portrait at Actual size or 100%.
The web guide is also printable. Core explanations, written steps and PDF links remain available if JavaScript does not load. Animated playback, automatic exercise feedback and local note saving need JavaScript.
PDFs are printable workbooks, not interactive forms. Learners may answer on paper, draw, explain aloud or use an approved accessible tool.
Support and scope
Ask a teacher, parent or trusted adult for help with instructions or approved tools. No live AI account, public posting, purchase or personal information is needed for these activities.
Automatic feedback checks the three practice questions. Projects need human review; self-review ticks do not certify mastery. The pathways are enrichment experiences, not a complete examination-board syllabus or a qualification.
The original 30-lesson Grade 4 skills courses and five-day Excel course are also available. Their existing account-progress features are separate from this library.
